Hi Nicholas, thank you for stopping by. Centiare was set up to utilize the fantastic MediaWiki collaboration/editing tool for commercial directory content.

As such, it also provides a commercial outlet for Wikipedians who wish to market/provide editing services to the many organizations who need assistance with their listings. I think you'd be surprised at the number of WPers who have checked out the site. As you say yourself: I'm waiting for something to happen elsewise.

We've added all sorts of interesting extensions/mods to extend MW's functionality, not the least being protected user-owned pages and semantic tagging capabilities.
