  • 1598: King Henry IV ended the Wars of Religion in France by signing the Edict of Nantes.
  • 1204: The Latin Empire of Constantinople came into existence when the Fourth Crusade conquered and sacked Constantinople (now Istanbul), the capital of the Byzantine Empire.
